I walked as little as possible

I have come to the realization that most of my winter skirts are pencil-skirt-ish. And while I obviously like pencil skirts, I am getting bored of that! So I tried to "winterize" this summer skirt by adding a sweater and black tights. I think it worked out fairly well! Except for the fact that it was a PAIN IN MY ASS all day. My favorite half-slip was just a smiiiiidge too long for this, so I thought "well I'll just wear my super mini half slip and it will be fine, because my skirt won't stick to my butt and then it will just poof out at the bottom and there will be no problem." But there was a problem. My skirt clung to my thighs all day and it was a mess. I walked as little as possible.

Also, I don't have a ton of hair. Well, actually I have a normal number of hairs (one hair dresser even said I have more than just normal, which surprised me), but each strand is pretty fine so in the end I don't have a lot of hair mass to work with. But when I let my hair wave up sometimes I feel like there is a LOT there.

Aww i think you did a great job of winterizing the skirt. I hate that skirts stick to tights. Ohwell at least you looked awesome! Maybe it's something to revisit. Also I'm not sure the logistics but maybe roll the waist of the longer skirt next time? Not sure the constructions of either but maybe that'll help in the future.

Pretty! Yeah...I just now started using a half-slip, and while they help most of the time, sometimes I run into the same problem you had. Your hair looks pretty all wavy like that! My hair is the same way...I used to think I had thin hair, but it turns out it's just fine, but I have a lot of it! I can get some pretty good volume when I curl it!

Too bad about the skirt. It LOOKS cute, though, if that's any consolation. I like your hair wavy, btw :)

Dang. Well, standing still, this outfit is SMASHING. But I feel ya - I have a miniskirt slip and a half slip. The mini is too short for many skirts, and the half waaaaay too long. Eesh!

Ecc3ntricCynic - rolling the waistband of the long slip is what I SHOULD have done! But I was worried it would create a weird little bulge around my waist. Of course I didn't actually experiment with that so who knows, it may have worked out fine :)

Becky - Sounds like you have hair like me! I definitely don't have thick hair and I've asked just about every hairdresser I've ever been to to confirm that my hair is indeed fine, not actually thin. I get paranoid about that :-p But when my hair was shorter especially, hot rollers would make it BIG!

Vanessa - thank you! You have such pretty wavy hair yourself :) My only problem is that on Day 2, the bottom layer of my hair falls out while the top layer stays wavy. So then I just look unkempt...if it wasn't for that, I'd wear it wavy all the time!

Sal - I've seen mid-thigh slips but damn if they're not ugly! I want pretty underwear, but half slips are SO hard to find in anything other than plain white, beige, or black. So I keep holding out for the pretty ones and in the meantime, no mid-thigh slips are to be found in my drawers! Sigh.

I really like the idea of wearing clothes all-year-round instead of designating them for certain seasons! I like how you winter-fied this skirt.

Oh and your bow necklace is just adorable. Bows are my favorite.

I'm sorry the skirt ended up being not very functional, because it looks great. Also, your hair looks amazing like that!

Cristina - I like the *idea* of wearing my clothes all year round, but at least in KY many pieces have to be season-specific!

Diana - Thanks! I love wavy hair!

I love the pretty bow necklace!

MissNeira - thanks! I actually hadn't worn it in months, then I saw a girl on TV with a bow necklace and it reminded me how much I like mine!

I am actually in need of a slip. I don't own a single one right now.

I love that necklace!

La Historiadora de Moda - oh you should get one! I wrote about my love for them a while ago but basically...I think they are incredibly useful! I have a zillion!

Treacle - no problem! I actually didn't hear back from him on the email I sent, but I assume he got back with you or got to your email since the post went up :)
